About the Class: Alla Prima Oil Painting with Brenno Kenji

Join us on Wednesday evenings for a 2.5-hour class on alla prima oil painting.

Under Brenno’s expert guidance, you will start your journey with the timeless tradition of still life. This foundational subject is a rich and accessible way to master the essential skills of composition, color mixing, and brushwork. As the class progresses and skills develop, the curriculum will evolve. It will explore other exciting formats. These include master studies and advanced compositional work. The content will be tailored to the interests of the group.

This class is designed to be a supportive and inspiring environment. You can develop your technical skills here. You will also grow your unique artistic voice.

Meet the Instructor: Brenno Kenji

Brenno Kenji, Seattle Artist

Brenno Kenji is a passionate artist and dedicated educator with a unique background that bridges the worlds of visual art, literature, and philosophy. Holding a Ph.D. in Literature from UC Berkeley, Brenno brings a rich, interdisciplinary approach to his teaching, encouraging students to explore painting as a form of intellectual and intuitive discovery. His artistic training includes mentorships with renowned artists such as Sunny Apinchapong-Yang and Steve Huston, and he has taught at institutions including the University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, and Gage Academy of Art in Seattle.

Class Details & Registration

Ready to paint with us? We are offering two separate five-week sessions this fall. Register for one or both!

Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Sessions:

  • Session 1: September 17th – October 15th (5 classes)
  • Session 2: October 22nd – November 26th (5 classes) (Please note: There will be no class on November 5th)
  • Winter Session: January 7th to February 4th (5 classes)

Cost: $385 per five-week session

Materials: You have two options! You can bring your own supplies (a recommended list is available HERE), or you can purchase a curated materials kit from the studio for an additional $50. The supply fee will be collected on the first day of class.
