Stop Doodling. Start Designing.
Is your young artist tired of “scratchy” drawings that don’t look quite right? In this high-energy, two-hour intensive, we move past basic doodles and dive into the professional workflow used by studio animators and concept artists.
Our mission? To master the complex, armored anatomy of the Iguana—one of the most challenging and rewarding subjects in nature.
The 120-Minute Studio Workflow
This is a technical, skill-based workshop. We follow the professional 3-3-3 Method to build a masterpiece from the inside out:
- Phase 1: The Hand-Control Sprint Learn the “Line & Ghosting” exercises that eliminate shaky lines. We’ll practice drawing with the shoulder to build instant confidence and precision.
- Phase 2: The Shape-Combo Challenge We’ll break down the iguana into a 3D puzzle of spheres, triangles, and cylinders, learning to see the “skeleton” hidden beneath the skin.
- Phase 3: 3D “Blob” Theory & Contours Learn the secret to volume! We’ll use contour lines to make your iguana’s tail and spine look heavy, 3D, and realistic.
- Phase 4: The Final Hero Polish Applying the “3-3-3” finish: 3 core shapes for structure, 3 secondary shapes for muscles/spikes, and 3 final detail pops (eyes, scales, and texture).
Workshop Highlights
- Professional Tools: Students will work with non-photo blue drafting pencils, fine-point archival ink pens, and toned studio paper to make their highlights pop.
- The “Pro” Experience: Designed to keep 8-year-olds engaged with “magic” 3D tricks while giving 14-year-olds the technical “No-Fluff” advice they need for their portfolios.
- Take-Home Art: Every student leaves with a professional-grade character sheet of their Iguana creation.
