  • $80 • All materials included
  • Ages 12+

Punch needle is the satisfying, meditative craft of using a hollow-handled tool to push loops of yarn through a woven fabric, building up a dense, textured image one row at a time. The result is a richly dimensional piece of fiber art — part painting, part textile — that you’ll be proud to hang in your home.

In this 2.5-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to get started with this beginner-friendly craft — no prior fiber arts experience required. Whether you’re a complete newcomer or a seasoned crafter looking to try something new, this class will set you up for success from your very first loop.

You’ll begin by choosing or designing your own image — pick from one of Clé’s beautiful templates or bring your own design. Then you’ll learn to transfer your pattern onto monk’s cloth stretched in an embroidery hoop, thread your punch needle tool, and start building color, texture, and depth one satisfying row at a time.

What You’ll Learn

  • What punch needle is and how the tool works
  • How to select and prepare your fabric and frame it in an embroidery hoop
  • How to transfer a design onto monk’s cloth
  • Proper punch needle technique for consistent loops and clean edges
  • How to change yarn colors and troubleshoot common mistakes
  • Tips for finishing and displaying your piece at home

Punch needle is wonderfully approachable and forgiving — loops can be pulled out and redone easily, which makes it perfect for beginners. You’ll be amazed at how quickly a design comes to life under your hands.
