Year Long Weekly Art Lessons for Ages 8 – 10
Schedule: Mondays, 4:30 – 5:45 PM (75-minute sessions)
Calendar Note: Classes meet weekly across four distinct terms, aligned with the Northshore School District calendar for observed breaks.
Students develop foundational fine art skills while exploring a rich variety of creative mediums, including painting, drawing, clay, and glass fusing. Our curriculum is designed to balance technical skill-building with creative exploration. Projects rotate every term to introduce new concepts—including hands-on experience with the studio kiln and pottery wheel. This program is an excellent fit for young artists ready to deepen their technical abilities and artistic expression.
Year-Long Fine Art Curriculum
- Elemental Skill-Building: Students learn fundamental concepts in drawing and classical color theory, transitioning from guided exercises to independent artistic expression.
- Advanced Medium Rotations: Direct experience working with dimensional form through clay hand-building, specialized techniques on the pottery wheel, and precision glass fusing.
- Diverse Artistic Disciplines: Dynamic terms that cycle through landscape painting, composition design, self-portraits, printmaking, and wearable art.
- Exhibition & Showcase: Cultivating real pride in craftsmanship as students plan and execute a refined, independent piece for the studio’s annual spring showcase.
2026–2027 Terms
Classes run Monday evenings, following the Northshore School District calendar. $45 per class. Enrollment is by term.
- Term 1 — September 14 to October 26, 2026 (7 classes – $315)
- Term 2 — November 2, 2026 to January 11, 2027 (9 classes – $405 )
- No class December 21 & 28 (Winter Break)
- Term 3 — January 25 to March 29, 2027 (9 classes – $405 )
- No class February 15 (Presidents Day)
- Term 4 — April 12 to June 14, 2027 (9 classes – $315 ).
- No class April 5 (Spring Break), May 31 (Memorial Day)

Missed a class?
If your Junior Artist needs to skip their usual session, they can attend a Studio Artists class that same term as a makeup, provided we have an open seat. To request a makeup, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so we can check availability. (Limit 1 makeup per child per term.)
