Youth Art Ages 5 – 7: October we will be Playing with Light

Fall is the perfect season to notice how light changes—golden afternoons, long shadows, cozy glow. In our Monday Creative Art Classes for Kids Ages 5 – 7, October’s theme is “Playing with Light in Art.” Students will explore how artists use highlights, shadows, contrast, and warm/cool color to make pictures feel bright, dramatic, or mysterious.

What we’ll explore

  • Highlights & shadows: Where does the light come from? How do we show form with value?
  • Warm vs. cool color: How color temperature changes the mood of a picture.
  • Glow effects: Soft edges, color layering, and simple blending to make objects shine.
