Description
Painted as a live demonstration during one of my studio classes, Island Rest captures a fleeting moment of calm—turquoise water gently shifting in the foreground, leading the eye toward a quiet shoreline tucked beneath swaying palms.
The small figures and red umbrella add a sense of narrative and warmth, inviting the viewer into a place that feels both distant and familiar. Painted alla prima, the brushwork remains loose and expressive, preserving the immediacy of the moment and the energy of painting from life.
This piece reflects what I love most about teaching and painting—sharing the process, embracing spontaneity, and finding beauty in simple, sunlit scenes.
