Encaustic Bird Collage: Texture, Transparency & Wax

Join us for a special class exploring the luminous, layered world of encaustic painting. In this 2.5-hour workshop, students will create a mixed-media encaustic artwork inspired by birds, texture, and atmosphere.
Working with molten beeswax and damar resin, we’ll build soft, atmospheric backgrounds using layers of color, collage, and mark-making. Once the surface has depth and movement, we’ll integrate a bird image as the focal point, allowing it to emerge naturally from the wax rather than sit on top of the surface.
